Dating fender amps chassis
Tube amps are particularly popular with serious musicians.
Many musicians prefer to play vintage Fender, Marshall and Gibson amps.
Looking at the chart below we can see that there was a pretty consistent numbering scheme for the vintage tweed Fender Champs.
On my 1959 tweed Champ amplifier, the serial number is located right in front of the fuse cap.The simplest vacuum tubes resemble incandescent light bulbs in that they have a filament sealed in a glass envelope which has been evacuated of all air. When hot, the filament releases electrons into the vacuum: a process called thermionic emission. It is stamped into the chrome chassis with a white letter “C” (for Champ) and the serial number, also in white. As you can see from the photo below, the serial number of my amp is C 09556.
